Linda: I look forward to your blog every Saturday! Today's comments were especially interesting. I had the good fortune to hear General Shalikashvili address a group in Tacoma, Washington just a few days after he retired as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He was mesmerizing in his command of the world's political and geographical landscape. Your blog made me pause to reflect on that great soldier and his beginning days when another soldier, his Sergeant, so admirably and effectively served him and guided him in the ways of the Army. To hear that General Shalikashvili remembered and honored his Sergeant throughout his career reminded me that leadership is not limited to those in high places, and that we can be inspirational to others in the way we choose to live our lives. Three cheers for Diana Juergens, you, and all the Blue Star Mothers and their sons and daughters who inspire citizens because of the manner in which they serve our country with dedication and unselfishness.

Thank you for your recognition of the work of the Hero Miles Program. As a Wounded Warrior family that had to tap into this resource in order to stretch our personal family resources, I am grateful to the Hero Miles program and the unknown Americans that shared their frequent flier miles with us.

Linda,

Saturday is always looked forward to with the anticipation of receiving your blog for the week. This week's story regarding "I Want You to Know Me" books is particularly interesting and informative! I've forwarded it to several friends who have some connection with soldiers serving overseas.

Keep up the good work! We Americans need to be reminded often that our troops and those they are fighting to protect continue to need our support and our prayers.
